Service was slow, inconsistent and unapologetic! Food way overpriced and the quality was horrible. Not even one person out of 7 in our party liked their meal. We will never be back.

The restaurant has been open for only a week now so before I say I will never go back I will say that I will try it again maybe in 6 months when they are not so new. Hopefully they will change their chef. The service itself was fine, but the food was extremely overpriced and did not have any flavor. I ordered my server's first and only recommendation which was the penne pasta ($17). My friend ordered the chicken parmiagani. I was extremely disappointed in my pasta as I could have made some crazy amazing pasta at home for a fraction of the price. Salt didn't even help. Both of us took home even more than half of our meal. If you are going to charge such high prices for food it better be good. Our neighboring table expressed dissatisfaction as well with their food as well. The presentation for a plate that high of a price had a lot to be desired.

We just returned from dinner and I wanted to give my review while still fresh in my memory. There were positives and negatives. Positives - the stuffed banana pepper appetizer was good and hubby said the ribeye was excellent. The french onion soup was good as well as the soup of the day - toasted orzo with chicken and swiss chard. I ordered a special - Hawaiian opah that came with fried green tomatoes and a calamari salad. Opah was good but not great and the calamari salad was awesome! Now the negatives - we all thought it was over priced, especially the Sharkbite drink - $10.50 for dark rum, oj, and cranberry juice. Really? Also, there were only 2 sides that were not starches and there was an up-charge on both (haricot vert and asparagus). An up-charge on asparagus is ok, but green beans? I don't think so and with so many people watching carbs, it's not a good thing to encourage return visits. Another bummer was that they didn't have the black and blue chicken which I'd seen on their menu on Facebook when they first opened and I was so looking forward to trying it. That was a serious bummer. I know they are new and are still working out the kinks so we'll be back in a month or so to see the improvements.

I thought that for the quality of the food (everything was homemade and fresh), the prices were very reasonable! Our server was great too!

We love it here!! Harrison is a great bartender and the food is great. 50 cent wings on the weekends and great drink specials.

Wings were delicious, side salad was ok, margarita was good but too sour, and service was less than okay.

Great drinks, great food, and great atmosphere. My wife got the prime rib and I got the shrimp and grits. Both were amazing. Definitely will be back when we come to st. Auggie

So pleased to have discovered this great place.. Easy drive off I 95..International Golf Parkway....Definitely worth checking out.. Hanger steak, filet, seafood...All delicious... Chef Matthew Ingrao is exceptional...Food preparation and presentation one would expect at a 5 star upscale restaurant... Servers, especially Jon, are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and quite attentive...... Try this place...You won't be disappointed!

I really, really wanted to like this place. Tried it 5x because it is close by. The food is just not good. Tried several different items. Tried Chk parm last time because is usually a safe option and it's not here. Servers very inexperienced (need to ask for utensils, chase for the check etc). Disappointed.

Been twice since it's opened and both times were fantastic! Love the menu, food comes out in a timely manner and is always delicious!!! We sit at the bar, but service is always great! Only downside...being from NY, I was not impressed with the Penne alla Vodka... but everything else has been wonderful!

We went to the Black and Blue Grill a week after it opened. The experience was incredibly disappointing from the untrained wait staff to the cold and less-than-appetizing meal. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over a dozen years, I realize that I can be a tough critic. So, we tried again five (5) months later and hoped for a great date night at a neighborhood restaurant. Recommendations: Hire a manager. There is no leadership, so the staff doesn't know what their role is. Our waiter did a decent job, despite very difficult circumstances. He was one of only three wait staff for the entire restaurant. When they first opened, the place had dozens of wait staff. A burger and wings took almost an hour and the waiter apologized, whenever he had time to stop by the table. We asked the bartender if he could help us a place an order and he said that the waiter would be with us soon. Wow. There was no floor manager and no second servers or secondary wait staff. The owners were carrying trays of dirty dishes and creating roll ups of silverware. The chef was delivering food. Who's on 1st? Food. It shouldn't take almost an hour for what is considered appetizer style food. And, it was greasy and cold. There's a disparity in the kitchen because a couple sat down at the bar and received their meal in less than fifteen minutes. The menu items are good, but the prices are not reasonable for this area. The best part of the meal was the hot bread at the very beginning. Thankfully, we had enough to last us for an hour until the food finally arrived. Location. For those of us who live in this part of St. Augustine we only have a few neighborhood restaurants. After reading the reviews, we decided that sitting at the bar would be a good choice, since the restaurant was still experiencing service issues after five months. We were wrong. This restaurant would be turning people away if they put money and training into their staffing. We will not go back. We tried. This family business needs to close for a few weeks and figure out the way forward. Everyone looks incredibly tired. Make the menu smaller and fine tune the dishes. Perhaps you could have locals in to conduct tastings and give feedback. Hire a complete wait staff with a strong manager working the front of the house. Visit each and every table, asking for feedback. Don't bus tables and put silverware together. Talk to your patrons. Talk to your staff. Drink specials and buffets may provide the foot traffic that you need, but patrons will only come back for those items. Stop and find a way forward.

We chose this place on a whim while in St. Augustine for vacation, The atmosphere here is very relaxed, but it has a wonderful sense of calm. The beer selection is perfect (gotta have my Duke's!) The prices kind of took us off guard because we're generally all about a good deal, but once we saw what you got for your money, we didn't mind. And oh my god. The food...was so amazing. I ordered the linguine and clams in the white wine sauce with an extra shrimp skewer (spend the extra $5!) It was to die for! Of course I tried everybody else's' as well! The salmon wasn't the best I'd ever had, but it was still delicious. The ribeye steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection (medium rare because how else do you eat a steak?!) The chicken Parmesan was equally pleasing from what I hear (I missed out on trying that one.) All in all, if you're in town, don't miss it! Not to mention, the chef checked on us and was clearly invested in the quality of his food. You can't beat a passionate staff.

My wife and I first visited this restaurant a few weeks after it opened and it was terrible so in all fairness we thought we'd give it a second try when our son visited last week. We walked by the bar on the way to our table and noticed the same cluttered mess around the bar. Dirty glasses and liquor bottles strewn all over the bar area. I remember because I overheard the bartender asking "where did I leave that vodka bottle?" We were greeted at our table in a timely manner but our server was very inexperienced and awkward. He could not answer any bar liquor questions. We ordered three mixed drinks and one coffee. Our drinks arrived almost 20 minutes later and without cream and sugar for the coffee. My coffee was cold and the other were practically finished with their drinks before the server returned with the cream and sugar. I was very surprised in this slow service because the restaurant was fairly empty and our server had only one other table to wait on. My main complaint is how long it took to receive our entrees. After 50 minutes waiting for our food we had to flag down our server and ask him to check on our food. He was very polite but quite incompetent. The owner/cook spent a lot of time standing in front of the kitchen staring down the customers, stroking his beard, instead of in the kitchen working. Note, we noticed our waiter asking his other table, that was waiting a long time also if they wanted bread. We were never offered bread during our long wait. Many of the previous problems/complaints can be overlooked IF the foods arrives in a timely manner and is hot and delicious but the food arrived COLD. My son's steak, my buffalo wings and my wife salmon were cold and you could tell they had been sitting awhile. The food was disappointing. We ordered another round of drinks when the food arrived but didn't get them until we flagged down our waiter near the end of the meal. He was very apologetic but overwhelmed. We also asked for napkins when we received our food and they didn't come until we received our bill. All in all just a terrible experience. Nothing has changed. Avoid this place or you will be very disappointed.

First off, the soda and water tasted like chlorine. The pasta was flavorless and not appealing. The restaurant itself was hard to find. On the bright side, the chicken and seafood were delicious. The back patio is decorated nicely and we even saw some animals in the pond. The staff was very attentive and nice, but the food was below average.

Found this treasure after playing golf at World Golf village. Great French onion soup (and I can say that as I order everywhere I go). Went for oysters originally. Not the greatest value at $19/dz though. Need a better price on oysters. Great service overall. Thank you Christian!

Exceeded our expectations. Possibly one of the best experiences I have had in the Jacksonville/St Augustine area. Upon entering was greeted by the owner and allowed to choose our seats. The 4 of us choose a table near the bar. Our server, Harrison was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He thoroughly explained the menu and there is something for everyone. We choose 2 grey grouper specials, one blackened and one pan-seared. I choose the broccolini, rice-pilaf with fresh corn, it also came with a choice of salad or soup. The Caesar salad was excellent with the house-made dressing. The corn and crab chowder was delicious. Amazingly the price was Only $21 per order.. Both orders came with a house-made spicy chutney which was just hot enough. One person had the the 1/2 rack or lamb and cooked to perfection, only $23. The other person had shrimp and grits with choice of soup or salad and fried green tomatoes for only $14. Wine list needs a little work; small, very nice selection for the size of the list. Large beer menu and a true mixologist on staff. If there were any negatives it would be the tap water was not very good and the bathroom cleaners and brush exposed. The decor is minimalistic, however it is a attractive. Needs some fabrics to absorb sound. Very nice executive chef, Matt Ingrao came out after dinner was served, introduced himself and was truly concerned about our opinions. Nice wood deck overlooking beautiful lake, all service available on deck. Looking forward to trying the Seminole Florida Grass fed beef which is the highest grade produced in Florida. We will go out of the way to go to this excellent restaurant which is very reasonable priced.

It is not unusual for a locally owned family restaurant to care about their customers. What is so unusual about this place is that the food is always hot and excellent. The environment is clean and trendy. The staff is efficient and friendly. The hours are now accommodating and the bar is usually stocked with my favorite tequila. I first went during happy hour for the drinks and cheap food and stayed until close. After that time I was hooked and go at least once a week now for dinner. Can't brag enough about this place.

Went for a drink and appetizers. The stuffed mushrooms were excellent as was the chicken salad. The service was fast and courteous. We would highly recommend.

I read the reviews. Stupid me. For starters the water was chlorine filled. The bread was less than ordinary served with what seemed like parkay margarine! Awful. We ordered two entrees. In fairness the one dish was shrimp scampi and was enjoyed by my partner. I ordered Veal parmigiana with a side of pasta. The pasta was bland overlooked and tasteless. I left most of it as did my partner. The veal was served in what seemed to be a left over sauce from last week. The veal itself had a peculiar odor like it had been in a refrigerator or cooler too long. The service was adequate and friendly. We paid the bill, left a generous tip because we appreciate hard working people even if the food is awful. We slipped out without dessert because we couldn't bear another disappointment! Never again.

First time eating @ Black and Blue and I loved it! Started with the buffalo chicken dip, it was delicious and I loved the blue cheese on top! Entrees were chimichurri steak, shrimp n grits, eggplant parm, and horseradish crusted salmon. All of the entrees were well cooked, well seasoned, and visually mouthwatering. I will definitely be back! I hope they bring back Sunday Brunch! Two thumbs up!

Great food!!! Nice deck over a pond, with turtles and fish! He staff is really good! We've been coming to the area for 12 years and this is the best restaurant we've been to and that's saying a lot for someone coming from San Francisco. I had the California Salad- with Shrimp- amazing.

Ate here for the 3rd time today. I love a good cheeseburger and they have a great one. I'd recommend trying the bacon, egg, and cheeseburger if you're hungry and appreciate a great burger. This place is pretty new and still a bit of a hidden gem. Enjoy this secret now before everyone finds them and they get too busy. We went there today after church with 7 adults and 6 kids. We had great weather so we sat on the back deck overlooking the water. The kids fed the turtles and we talked and watched some football. They have flat screens everywhere with a wide variety of games. The decor is like a contemporary rustic look. Great atmosphere + great food + good service = one of my new local favs.

Scarlett would swoon over the shrimp and grits, "eat like a field hand and gobble like a hog"; her Mammy would be proud and Rhett...jealous! The prices leave little to be desired (for the area) but the loaf bread and light cinnamon butter are better than dessert. Let them eat cake, or in this case bread and butter! Southern girl, southern comfort food- AMEN!

Came alittle late on a weeknight so there were not many people there. Service was very attentive and quick. I had clams and linguini which was packed with fresh clams in shells and pieces of clams. I did not have an appetizer and still I could not finish this dish and I really tried as it was really good. Several beers on draft ( I only had one). Several tempting desserts on menu, I just wish I had room for one of them. I believe the prices to be good for the quality and amount of food. If you want to eat and pay Capt D food and prices go there. Read other reviews, possibly when place is busy quality goes down, don't know. Close to interstate and World Golf Village .

Food was good but don't try to tell the server that your stake is not cooked right... she will put up one hell of an argument.... as they did recook my stake to what I asked for the manager had equally as much attitude as the server at the end of our meal when asking if everything was ok... leason learned do not order stake at this restaurant!

Went on a Wednesday night. Asked for outside seating and was given a table that was so uneven we had to move. So inside n we are seated at a table in the middle of the room all by our self, weird. Ok the food, awful! Everything we asked for was out so the one app we got, calamari, was hands down the worst calamari I have eaten. It was rubber and the fried "something on the outside was oil and not stuck on the squid. And the dip was nasty.. We left after the app...

  • Forrest W.

I was really hoping this would be good. Read the reviews and still wanted to give it a try. Caesar salad was caked with anchovy paste. Was extremely potent just sitting on the table. Had to have waiter take it away. Calamari was okay - not great, not bad. Small amount of marinara offered with it. Had to ask for bread before dinner. When received, found that it tasted like I was eating a ball of yeast surrounded by a hard crust. Split an entree, bourbon pork tenderloin. This was okay. I'm Typically not picky. Never posted on Yelp before but This restaurant was such a disappointment. On the plus side, bar looked nice and drinks were good. Maybe a good place to sit at bar and have drinks only. Food needs major overhaul.

Used to be somewhat ok but between the very rude grumpy owner loud and unrelaxing environment with no music and staff who seems miserable working there combined with take out food that has never been tasty or accurate I see this place failing pretty soon. My partner and I tried 3 places while on our trip here- seems like nothing of quality each time we come back to the area. Sadly we have to be here every few months until our project is completed. Ps be careful how you order your steak it's always too well done.

Just had dinner with friends. The drinks (we had one of the specials) were fantastic. The bread was great, we are too much of it. The Caesar dressing had a nice subtle flavor of anchovies. The corn and crab chowder was loaded and not overly cream laden - delicious both times we tried it. Tonight's live music was a perfect compliment.

This is a great place for breakfast. It's a hidden gem & worth finding. We come here on Sunday after church. Love the vibe of the place. Kids finish their food. That itself is a bonus!

Some of the early reviews after this place opened made us apprehensive, but we gave them a shot last night and were pleasantly surprised. Hidden back off International Golf Parkway just east of 95, this place is easy to miss but worth the trip. We'll certainly be giving it another visit. Parking lot was maybe half full when we arrived Sunday evening. Decor has a rustic/Restoration Hardware feel to it, which we found appealing. There was a guitarist playing some Beatles and blues at a volume that was appropriate for the venue. We were greeted quickly and directed to a table, where our waiter took drink and appetizer orders (full bar yay!). Appetizer didn't take long to arrive. The calamari was above standard fare you would receive at a Carabbas, but not amazing. We liked that there were tentacles, which are not always present. Bread came with the appetizer, a good crusty loaf. Side salads came next, where we tried both the caesar and house salads. The caesar salad was great, probably one of the better ones we've had. The dressing wasn't too creamy, maybe a stronger anchovy flavor? I don't know exactly, but we'll be getting it again. The house salad was...well, it was a house salad. Not bad at all, but these are sort of boring wherever we go. For entrees, my spouse had the crab cakes while I had the pork tenderloin. Her crab cakes were spicy and flavorful. Some may not like the direction the chef went with them, but we liked them. My pork tenderloin was delicious. Had to fork my spouse a few times to keep her away. Our waiter seemed to disappear a little longer than is typical after the entrees were dropped off, but we felt he was probably a newer waiter and could see him working diligently at some other tables. Some of the other reviews really felt negatively about the service, but we didn't really see it as much of an issue. We declined dessert due to having no more room left, but they had a creme brulee on the menu that sounded good. We plan to try it next time. Overall, we had a nice night with good food, drinks, and music. We'll definitely be back.

Food was overpriced for what we had. Hockey puck hamburger. Frozen shrimp over instant grits and chicken pot pie. Took almost an hour to get the three simple entrees. No explanation on the hold up. Another table by us was having a similar problem. I watched tables sat before me get their food before mine came out. The waitress was very nice though. This place is adorable and could do very well but they need to kick it into gear.

Please do not pass this place!! You are greeted by a smiling face you will then notice the super chic decor. The decor is current and comfortable. Once you are seated you are welcomed by a very knowledgable server and given the specials that include a wonderful fresh catch option as well as a comfortable favorite. They follow up the favorites with the beer options including craft beers on tap as well as a full bar and great wine list. The food exceeds all expectations in presentation and preparation is flawless. The quality and the fair pricing make this a place you will want to go again and again!

I live in WGV and I have been thrilled with this restaurant! I've been here 4 times so far. Three out of the four times I've ordered the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Each time it was made to perfection! I'm from Chicago and know good steak! The service has always been great and the food outstanding. I think the prices are reasonable! Great food does not come cheap, but I don't think the prices are unreasonable. So, try it!

We got the recommendation for B&B by the bellman at our hotel. The closest thing to the world golf village (outside of the village). Let me start with the bread. You know it's going to be good when you start with the bread. The potato bread was tasty and the butter was home made honey, sugar, etc. Very good if you like bread and butter as I do. Then we opted for the calamari which was good and fresh. Our main dish was the filet mignon and the prime rib. Wow. I was pleasantly surprised at how good both were. Really nice job for a place like this. You know, not a fancy steak place. Anyway, the food was great. Liz our waitress was just awesome. I hope you get her if not ask for her. In all, this place is a must do if and when you are in the area. I highly recommend B&B. Enjoy. I know you will.

Had high hopes for this place but have been let down a few times. On the positive, they did a great job remodeling the inside of the restaurant. It has a great look and could be really wonderful, however.... I've been twice and both times the service was very average to poor -- especially based on the prices of both food and drinks. My wife went with friends another time and had a very poor experience as well. The quality of food and drinks leaves much to be desired at the prices. It's really a shame because we could use some great food places out here, but based on our experiences, Black & Blue is not the answer. Hopefully they can improve as time goes on.

I have given time for this restaurant to suffer through its growing pains. The good... I had the lobster mac and cheese and my wife had the bourbon pork tenderloin...both were excellent. The lobster had huge chunks of lobster claw meat and the tenderloin while a little chewy was well presented. The bad The waiter staff was average....responsive but a little disorganized. Multiple trips to the table to bring things a little disorganized. When you are out to dinner with your wife...the staff is not part of the conversation. The tables...as a operation management professor I cringed at setup. The have plenty of floor space but they put the tables next to each other so you participate in other people conversations whether you want to or not. The tables...the were @ 18' x 26" which is a small table for two. The proceeded to bring bread, soup, salad and appetizer to the table within 5 minutes of each other. This forced you to wolf down your food...which intern accelerates your meal...we were in and out in 50 minutes...that is appetizer, soup/salad and main course...pay for the bill and be out the door. You need to provide bigger tables or time your delivery so that one course is complete before you roll out the next course. It was 7:15PM on a Saturday night when the table was seated next to us and informed that the special was "Red Snapper" but you had better order quick because there was only one or two serving left....we were never informed that there was a special. Overall A- or B+

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
